We Are the Future

Normal, (1)

Average,

Regular life.

Expecting a certain route,

A certain ride, (5)

No bumps or roadblocks.

Then came the year,

2020.

The world has stumbled into a colossal mountain,

A dark, empty, black hole. (10)

Society’s imagination seeming powerless,

Defenseless,

Hopeless.

Going through a journey,

Trembling through an arid desert, (15)

Thirsting for courage,

Harmony,

Love.

Tension,

Stress, (20)

Inequity,

Fills humanity.

Yet unity did not become unknown,

Nor irrelevant,

Nor impossible. (25)

We can achieve the “unachievable,”

The “unreachable,”

The “impossible.”

For the word impossible,

Says “I’m Possible.” (30)

Let us not forget the love,

Compassion,

And respect,

That is freely offered and received.

Struggles can bring grateful, (35)

appreciative,

And wholesome thoughts,

Words, and actions.

With no bad,

There is no happiness in the good. (40)

Learn,

Develop,

Grow.

Change.

Remember why we are here, (45)

Our purposes.

Our breath is given every day,

Use it.

Time was our past,

Now is the present, (50)

And we are the future.
