Christmas Activities pt. 1

Are you looking for fun things to do with your friends and family now that the Christmas season has arrived? Here is a list of a few festive activities to do this winter.

The PNC Festival of Lights is a beautiful light show at the Cincinnati Zoo. Every winter, the zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland with the display of 3 million LED lights. The lights are amazing to look at and add to the typical zoo experience of walking around and observing the animals. In addition to looking at the lights and animals, there are many other activities you can do while at the Festival of Lights. All ages can enjoy the Toyland Express Train, watching the Mad-cap black light puppet show, and watching The Polar Express in 4D.

The Ice Rink on Fountain Square is a popular activity to do during the winter season. Whether you have an aptitude for ice skating or not, it is almost guaranteed that you will have a fun time with friends and family. The rink also offers a tent where you can stay warm, eat snacks, and drink tasty hot chocolate. Along with ice skating, Fountain Square also has a variety of restaurants where you and your family and friends can enjoy meals, before or after you go skating.

Winterfest, similar to The Festival of Lights, is a beautiful transformation of King’s Island into ten enchanting winter wonderlands, each with a different Christmas theme. Some of the wonderlands include Action Ice Zone, Candy Cane Lane, and Coney Elf Village. Along with the beautiful lights and decorations and fun rides, Winterfest offers ice skating on the Royal Fountain, seeing the Eiffel Tower transformed into a 314-foot tall Christmas tree, live shows, and much more!

Holiday in Lights is an outdoor light display viewed by guests from the comfort of their own vehicle. Located at Sharon Woods, a Great Park of Hamilton County, Holiday in Lights has been a Cincinnati family tradition for 30 years and is the only drive through light show through woods. They also have Santaland for guests to visit before or after the show; a building nearby for guests to warm up, get snacks, drink hot chocolate, and listen to the entertainment provided, including the Dickens Carolers.

Perfect North, another very popular place to visit in the winter, is a ski area that offers skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing. They also have a ski lodge where visitors can warm up and get food. Along with fun snow activities and their ski lodge, Perfect North offers lessons to anyone who has never skied or snowboarded before. It’s a great place for friends and family to experience winter, especially when there is no snow on the ground at home.

Light shows, ice skating, and skiing are just a few ideas of fun things to do nearby with your family and friends. Whether it be studying for exams, Christmas shopping, or extended family coming into town, the Christmas season can be a stressful time for everyone. These activities listed above are great ways to help relieve some of that stress and genuinely enjoy the holidays.
