Winter Sports 2018

This winter brings a lot of promising and exciting sport seasons to The Academy. This weekend, Swim and Dive takes a road trip to Louisville, where state prospects Clara Kaiser '20, Meredith Moellering '19, and Kristen Hammond '21, as well as other members of the Aquadawgs are competing. They have also revamped their diving program this year, with all new members including Emma Thomas '20, Allie McMath '20, Maddie McMath '22, Mia Meinhardt '22, Madeline Maginnis '21, and Cara Cavanaugh '21.

Basketball elected to forgo the freshman team this year, but the JV and Varsity squads are looking good. JV is currently 3-2, while Varsity is 2-3. Varsity is also swinging up JV freshman Grace Reisman '22, and expects to bring up more freshman from the JV team. Coaching for the Basketball team is almost all new this year, with additions of Style Estill to assistant varsity, R.J. Strange to assistant JV, and Mary Ann Dalton to head JV.

The Bowldawgs begin this season by adding a JV squad for the first time in a while, and have performed well in their first couple of matches. Currently, SUA bowling is 3-2, with big GGCL matches coming up vs. Ursuline (1/8), and Mercy McAuley (1/10). They played Seton on Thursday (12/13).

Be sure to check back with The Light later this winter for more on each of these sport's seasons, as well as information regarding upcoming senior nights. For more information regarding specific team schedules, check out the Winter Sports page on the SUA website. Your attendance is always appreciated!
