With awards season well under way, several dress styles, colors, and textures have become hallmarks of the Red Carpet. Celebrities who have attended the Golden Globes, the Grammys, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards have followed the following fashion trends that will most likely appear on the Oscars Red Carpet as well.
1. Vibrant Colors
A variety of pinks, reds, and yellows were worn by many celebrities on the Red Carpet. Designers like Gucci, Dior, and Jason Wu decided to follow this colorful trend.
2. Metallic Materials
A variety of sequins were used to make celebrities pop on the Red Carpet. Many designers did not stick to the norm of using silver, gold, or black sequins; rather, most strived to use unique color combinations such as the ones seen below. In addition to sequins, designers crafted metallic pieces in the shapes of stars, flowers, and stripes.
While some dresses featured high-neck or scoop-neck tops, the main feature of many celebrities’ gowns was a low v-neck top. For example, popular comediennes from ABC sitcoms, Tracee Ellis Ross and Julie Bowen wore deeply v-necked dresses.
4. Floral Patterns
Instead of using floral patterns for gowns, many fashion designers decided to make flowers out of unique materials. Flowers were made out of sequins, small crystals, or types of thicker cloth. In addition to this, floral patterns were often a small part of a one-colored dress.
5. Stripes on Stripes on Stripes
From pantsuits to elegant gowns, many women decided to go with this effortless look. Designers at Elie Saab and Lanvin incorporated multi-color stripes into their popular gowns.
Tune in on February 26th at 8 PM to watch the 89th Academy Awards Ceremony to see these fabulous fashion trends!
